Cake Dyeing for Symmetrical or Identical Colorways

Cake Dyeing for Symmetrical or Identical Colorways

Dyeing a wound cake of yarn creates beautiful asymmetric long colorways, but what do you do if you want to knit up a pair of socks? In the following video, we will show you how to prepare your cake of yarn to cake-dye a symmetrical colorway (or two colors in the same “dye lot”). Before you dye the yarn, you will wind your cake with two strands of yarn, the only difference is whether you cut the yarn into two skeins (for sock yarn) or leave it as one skein (for a symmetrical colorway.)
